[LA] Rayne Police Officer Larry Babineaux dodges another domestic violence charge

... After allegations were proven to be false, Babineaux was allowed to return to work October 11...

Who protects the victim(s) if the police are on the side of the abuser - if the abuser is the police?

In 2006 it supposedly took 2 months to investigate the allegation of domestic violence against Officer Larry Babineaux - and THEN HE WAS ARRESTED - so evidently they found something to charge him for. THAT domestic case melted away and here comes another one - open and shut within a few days.

RAYNE, La. - A Rayne police officer turned himself in on a warrant for domestic battery against his wife. Maxine Trahan, spokeswoman for the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, says 37-year-old Officer Larry Babineaux turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was issued by District Attorney's Office. Trahan says the sheriff's office received a complaint from Babineaux's wife August 13th and the warrant was issued following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division. Babineaux's wife also has filed for a restraining order against him. Rayne Police Chief George Melancon was reluctant to answer questions about Babineaux, although he did confirm that he had been employed with the police department since November 2001. Asked what disciplinary action could be taken against Babineaux, Melancon said the matter still was under investigation and would be decided by the mayor and city council. Babineaux was released on a 15-thousand dollar bond. [LINK]
