[Excerpts] Norma Tirado and Carmen Halim miss their older sister, Irma Rodríguez very much. "She was a very sweet person. Out of all the three of us, she was the sweetest one. She was the most passive," Tirado said... But on May 31, Rodríguez was reported missing by her family. Her body was found the next day in the trunk of her white Pontiac Grand Am vehicle... "The way she died was very brutal. What is eating us up the most is that there hasn't been [enough] attention put on the case and it [seems as though] it has been put on the backburner right now," Tirado said. "We're upset that nothing else has been looked at. There are no updates as to what is going on"... The family has not received an update from police... Tirado and Halim said there is a person that should be held accountable for their sister's death and that there is enough evidence to prove who killed their sister. "As a family, we believe it was her husband," Tirado said. Rodríguez' husband, Norberto Rodríguez shot Rodríguez in her hand in 1997... Relatives of Rodríguez said there was a history of domestic violence. The couple was going through a divorce and was due in court on June 2. Halim is convinced Norberto killed her sister. The weekend before she was murdered, Rodríguez gave her sister a warning. "She told me that if she [were] to come up missing – to go to him, that he did it, ‘If anything happens to me, he did it. No matter what, he did it,'" Halim said... Relatives of Rodríguez have not seen Norberto and do not know where he is. The family said he has not reached out to them nor has he reached out to his biological son, 14-year-old Gabriel Rodríguez. On the night Irma was reported missing, Norberto went for a walk, which according to his son, Gabriel, was not a normal routine for his dad. Gabriel said he noticed something out of the ordinary when he came home and found his mother's purse and car missing... The family has an order of protection against Norberto. The family urges anyone who noticed anything suspicious on the night Rodríguez was killed, to notify the police. Tirado said her family wants to ensure the case is solved and that justice is served. "There has to be someone who saw something. We are trying to reach out, someone had to have seen something," Tirado said. [Full article here]
