CORAL SPRINGS - A Broward sheriff's deputy was arrested and charged with domestic violence battery after his wife complained he punched her and pushed her down stairs. Deputy Brian Gillespie, 46, of Coral Springs, has been a deputy in the Oakland Park district for one year. Sheriff's officials said Gillespie has been suspended with pay
effective immediately.

He was released from jail Wednesday evening on a $250 bond. Stephanie Gillespie told police she got into an argument with her husband, then tried to get the car keys from him "so that she could leave," according to the Coral Springs police report. She told police when she tried to grab the keys, "he grabbed her by the left arm and punched her several times." She also told police "he threw her down two steps of stairs, onto the floor, causing bruises." Brian Gillespie, who was arrested Tuesday, could not be reached for comment today. [LINK]

WIFE'S BLACK EYE IS ANOTHER FOR BSO Another BSO deputy is arrested

Seems like lately the Broward Sheriff's Office officials are spending as much time locking up their co-workers as they are bad guys. The latest arrest came Tuesday after Deputy Brian Gillespie was accused of punching his wife in the face and then throwing her down the stairs of ther home. The couple's daughter witnessed the incident. In recent weeks, BSO employees have been arrested for beating up inmates, preying on immigrants and being too frisky during traffic stops. But at least none of them have wound up being arrested on the agency's reality TV show because that would be really embarrassing. The most recent allegations occured after Stephanie Gillespie had returned from having afew beers with a friend. She got in an argument with her husband and when she tried to leave, Deputy Gillespie tried to lay down the law. Gillespie, 46, was released from jail Wednesday and faces felony domestic battery charges. [LINK]

  1. Just another village idiot hired by the new Sheriff. Not much different than the old sheriff is he? Most BSO officers are good, it is the few bad ones that take the cake and make life harder for the good ones.

IRISH and PROUD to be a part of a long line of LAW ENFORCEMENT.

    1. He worked for Wilton Manors until he retired. His promotions in that city were non-existant. He retired, applied to BSO, went back to the academy, went to work for the county and look at him now.

His favorite book was about an officer that worked for Wilton Manors PD that proved to be a serial killer.

I have personal first-hand knowledge that Deputy Gillespie has committed what I believe are illegal criminal acts. I reported this to his commander. Nothing was done, and yes they know it is true. When people say there are bad apples in every profession, Deputy Gillespie is that bad apple that give other police officers a bad reputation. unfortunately some police officers protect each other instead of the public.

  4. I have known officer gillespie for over 9 years and he is not this person. His wife, stephanie, was an alcoholic. when he wouldn't let go of the keys, she did and fell, not down the stairs might i add. I absolutely cannot stand women who screw up and scream battery. it makes it harder for the women who are actually dealing with this situation. Brian is a kind and loving husband and parent. as for Stephanie's daughter witnessing this event, bullshit. she didn't see the entire episode. I think people in general are quick to take the side of the woman, simply because she was a female. it's ridiculous.

    1. Funny how you come to his rescue shortly before his IAB issues. You must love clam chowder as much as he does.

    2. The boy loves clam chowder even more when he is not paying for it. The poor sad thing with lies of poverty and persecution. He will be caught one day, maybe.

  5. You sound like a liar. I let it come through just to show what people have to deal with.

  6. Funny how all the BULLSHIT DREAMING and believing the press has stopped on this one. Brian was acquitted. Why? Because he was innocent! YES! There are women abusers. Brian is not one of them. From what I understand, Brian's ATTORNEY ATE HER ASS ALIVE AND EXPOSED HER ALCOHOLISM! If my wife were to try to drive drunk and I were a cop, I'd have done the same exact thing with the keys - But I would have followed her and called in the units for the DUI. The next day, I'd have been in DIVORCE COURT!

  7. For the naysayers that supported Brian's guilt, you are cowards! I have known Brian to be an effective cop whom retired from WMPD with a damn good record! I love it when Monday night quarterbacks tell us what should have been done the following Thursday night! You would pray for a cop like Brian to respond if you needed help! Identify yourself - punk! Take heart that Brian is rightfully back on the job after being HANDILY AQUITTED by a jury of his peers. Brian's attorney is still spitting fur balls! The only way people like you learn is to be proven wrong! That's why you didn't have the balls to say who yoy are. My initials are JL and if you have a problem with it, tell me! We'll meet and have some one on one counseling! What a punk! Can't believe there are people like you consuming oxygen! Ridiculous!

    1. You're killin' me with implying he's innocent just because he got away with it. Cops get away with beating and killing their wives all the time. The courts love them, they are intimidating so the victim recants, refuses to cooperate with prosecution, or disappears before court... and everyone in the system that cares more about his career than her life breathes a sigh of relief. She had injuries and any explanation for them other than the truth looks stupid.

I am on the same page with anonymous. If you dont have first hand knowledge of Gillespies actions and attitude as they pertain to his personal life, not his professional, why defend him. He has control issues. How often was he promoted at WMPD? Why not?
