Current news of "resigned" Officer Loveless's gun theft doesn't mention the earlier domestic violence case. Keeping cops that hit their wives is keeping officers that break the law.

His mistake was taking an almost-worthless .32-caliber revolver from the police property room and selling it for $100 to a friend who would later run off with his wife. He got caught when the break-up turned ugly and the gun theft was brought to the attention of police, his lawyer said. Larry Loveless, a Lebanon police officer for a decade, was spared prison Friday after pleading guilty earlier in Warren County Common Pleas Court to theft in office and theft of a firearm. He faced up to 15 years in prison... Loveless, 37, now working at an electrical company, will spend the next three years on probation. If he slips up, he could go to prison for two years, Bronson said. Loveless also was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000. The Milford resident resigned last November amid allegations that he and then-Sgt. Fred Jacobs took two guns that were among a large group of weapons that were supposed to have been destroyed... A Lebanon police officer is on paid administrative leave after Miami Township police arrested him for allegedly assaulting his wife. Officer Larry Loveless, 33 of Miami Township, was arrested over the weekend outside his Clermont County home. He has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence... The argument became physical, and while police say they don't know who hit whom first, both assaulted each other and Lisa Loveless wound up with a swollen left eye. Both Larry and Lisa Loveless declined to press charges. But because of the visible bruises, police say they were obligated to charge Larry Loveless...

A Lebanon police officer is on paid administrative leave after being charged with hitting his wife... Loveless told officers she did not remember who hit whom first, police reports said. She refused to make a written statement to police. "There were no visible marks on Mr. Loveless, and he said he didn't want to prosecute," Bailey said. Alcohol was a factor... Loveless pleaded not guilty in Clermont County Municipal Court on Sept. 20...
