The Sedan police chief faces charges. Chief Brenton Cash Kimple was arrested Monday. He's charged with domestic battery and intimidation of a witness. The Attorney General's been called in to prosecute the case. Kimple will enter a plea to the charges later this month.

The Sedan police chief has come to an agreement in the domestic battery and witness intimidation charges against him. Cash Kimple will get a diversion. The Kansas Attorney General's office handled the prosecution. Spokesperson Ashley Anstaett says the diversion is typical for a first offense, but what isn't usual is the confidentiality agreement attached to it. While the AG's office can't tell us what the chief agreed to, Anstaett says typically in cases like these the office requires defendants to admit wrongdoing and agree to counseling.
